South Dakota

Alright everyone, so it's been FOREVER since I last wrote, or last did anything online, for that matter. I just wanted to give everyone a quick update to what's been going on.

I have officially made it to South Dakota. The trip went... swimmingly, minus a few minor occasions that I was fearful for my life, mainly on the small plane that flew into Pierre. South Dakota isn't big enough for a major airport (anywhere in the state, not just the capital city), so if you take a large plane (in the 747 area) you have to transfer to a smaller propeller plane from a larger airport, usually Denver.

The first incident was when we were taking off from Denver. Most of you who live in a rural area and have ever gotten bored driving will know what I'm talking about. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know when I get sick of driving and I'm trying to entertain myself, a lot of times I'll start weaving my car back and forth across my lane. Imagine a drunkard trying to walk a straight line. Well, as we were taking off the captain of the plane started to do something similar, only a lot more terrifying. I literally thought the plane was going to tip and we were going to go bouncing down the runway in a fiery mass of pain and suffering. o.0

The second and final incident was my own fault, I had fallen asleep and someone on the plane decided to sneeze as loud as humanly possible and I thought our engine exploded. But I figure that I'm allowed an instance of panic for all the bumps and jolts and turbulence that I ignored during the whole flight. Like I said though, overall, the trip was great. I didn't sit next to any freaks or geeks and the layover time was minuscule. I barely had time to make it down to the gate before we were boarding. On the last flight, I actually had the whole back seat to myself. And yes, little prop planes have backseats. They're like an extended car. They have two seats on each side for about 8 rows and the 9th row is a set of 3 seats all the way across. So, I took my seat belt off (shame!), stretched out, and passed out.

My visit so far has been amazing. So amazing in fact that I have some unexpected news, but I'll get to that in a minute. I'm actually going out for the night with a couple friends, so if I don't get to it before I leave you might have to wait for that news till tomorrow. Oh, the suspense! But back to my visit. I've managed to see a lot of my friends.
  • My best friend, Haylea, of course. I'm staying in her house at the moment. She left yesterday on vacation to Texas, so I'm pet sitting her cat and taking full advantage of her utilities, lol.
  • Derek and Liz, my best friends from high school. They recently got married, to each other, and they have a little boy named Atticus. I was supposed to be the Maid of Honor at the wedding, but due to my phone issues they couldn't get ahold of me in time... boo. But, we've been hanging out plenty since I've been back and we've all had a blast, so at least that's worked out.
  • My brother (in heart), Christopher. I don't know if I've mentioned it before on this blog or not, but I used to live with 5 fantastic men when I went to college in Brookings. Christopher was one of my roommates and we've upgraded to brother and sister level. Seriously, he's not even attracted to me anymore, lol. We've spent a ton of time together, so that's great. His girlfriend is actually visiting at the moment, but I love her too, so I don't mind. Although, he does get this weird compulsion to spend every second with her when she's here, but that happens to everyone, so I can't complain. It doesn't really matter to me either way because I love hanging out with both of them.
  • Tane and Tyson, my twins. Tane and Tyson were also roommates in my college days and I became really close friends with them as well. Not as well as Christopher and I, but decent. (By the way, Christopher goes by Mullett or Chris to his girlfriend and Christopher to me, lol) Tane and Tyson actually are identical twins, but they don't look much alike to me anymore. I've also become really good friends with Tane's girlfriend Kersi (and no, that's not a typo). She's a total sweetheart and I love her to death.
  • Brittany, or Hedman as everyone calls her, since I've already claimed the Brittany title. She had a baby recently. Zoe Alexandra, and I'm pissed at her because she stole my Alexandra name, lol. I'm just joking. The baby is adorable and I got to spend a lot of time with baby and momma yesterday. Brittany and I have been friends since Freshman year, so it was great to get to see her again.
  • I've also been able to hang out with the random handsome men that I've become mutual friends with through my roommates. Austin and Johnny mainly. Austin's family owns a restaurant out here (they serve the best steak... and I'm not joking... you think I'm biased, I'm not. Seriously the best steak... ever.) so we go out there to drink a lot. I'm not allowed to do that yet, so don't tell anyone. :)
  • I got to see my friends, Keely, Abby and my new friend Amber last night. We all went to dinner (Chinese, yum!) and then we went out to Cattleman's (the restaurant that Austin's family owns) and we had a blast. I'll have to tell you about it in a little bit. It's a bit intense... but what's youth without making a total fool of yourself a couple times? ;) This was the first time that I had been able to see those girls, so I was super excited to hang out with them.

(Just so everyone knows, you did have to wait another day, but since I didn't post the stupid thing till today, it doesn't make a lick of difference, lol!)

Alright, so I think that covers everyone that I've visited since I've been back. If I forgot anyone, I apologize. :) We've had some crazy times in the last few weeks, so I've got plenty to talk about. I'll start from the beginning. The first day back I got to see my beautiful new car and I hung out with Tane, Kersi, Christopher, Ashley and Amanda. Ashley and Amanda are Kersi's friends. I've gotten to spend quite a bit of time with Amanda, but I haven't seen Ashley since then. We played a rousing game of Uno. You think I'm joking, but this game was very intense! Chris, Tane and I ganged up on the girls and we were cheating and it was just too funny.
